Did you know that one plastic bottle takes about 700 years to perish?
Over one million plastic bottles are used every minute, worldwide. A lot of this plastic ends up in landfills across the globe with at least 8 million tons ending up in our oceans. Sadly, only 9% of this plastic waste is recycled worldwide.
In response to this global plastic crisis, we wanted to play an active part in reducing plastic pollution. BU Towels gives single-use plastic bottles a new life and new purpose. Our towels are sustainably made using 100% post-consumer plastic bottles, in the form of recycled polyester (rPET), allowing for a greener, safer, and cleaner future.
The production of rPET uses 90% less water, 70% less energy, and releases 75% less carbon than virgin fibre production.

Our synthetic clothes shed tiny microfibre, every time we do our laundry. These go down drains and into our waterways causing what’s known as microfibre pollution. Cora Balls are known to prevent this form of pollution by tangling these fibres, hair, and other fine particles – so they’re unable to enter our water streams affecting us and aquatic animals. All you need to do is to place these balls, along with your towels and synthetic clothing into your washing machine et voila! It’s a simple practice that makes a huge difference.
